as promised:
“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.” - Edgar Degas
So the first question is “What do I have to work with?” Any photograph involves accepting what one has at hand. Some scenes are easy. Everyone loves a sunset. Point and click, someone will love it. But there is nothing of you in that. So you must put life into a scene with a dull sky, a flat sea, uninteresting sand dunes and a very small boat in the distance and you made it come alive.
I like that you used your camera in a professional fashion. The focus is excellent, the aperture is correct, there are no stray images to distract the viewer. It is so great these days to see that there are still photographers who take the trouble to attend to such obvious skills.
I like that you lowered the horizon to force us to examine the sky; basically it is the only thing of interest in the frame so you took hold of it and make us see that it is more than a flat surface but has a life of its own.
I like that you waited for a small area of the water to be lit by the sun, just about the right amount in my judgment.
I definitely like the small sailboat and I like very much that while the boat seems to be at anchor, it does appear to be sailing into the frame, not out of it. The one thing I would wish you had done differently and which I hope you will try if you have a similar opportunity would be to turn the camera slightly to the right in order to move the boat closer to the side of the frame. Better still might be to move yourself to the left enough to move the boat out from behind the sand dune. In any case the boat should be closer to the left edge of the fame.
Over all a very competent use of photo techniques to achieve a lovely, calm scene.
If the four quality scores seem low it is only by comparison to the ridiculously high scores generally seen.
